Health Testing

All dogs being used in my breeding program are screened for;
  • Mitral Valve Disease
  • Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia
  • Eye issues such as cataracts and geographic retinal dysplasia
  • Luxating patella
  • Episodic Falling and Dry Eye Curly Coat Syndrome
  • MCADD
  • Wild gene

I’m currently making use of mostly echocardiograms in place of auscultations under the Danish Heart Protocol.  Echocardiograms are performed at 18 months, 4, and 6+.  I often do auscultations between those echo’s.  All testing is performed by a board certified Cardiologist

They are screened yearly for eye diseases by an Ophthalmologist

All of my breeding dogs undergo an MRI for chiari malformation and syringomyelia.  I have been making use of MRI imaging in my breeding program for 15 years.  Most of the puppies being produced here now have multiple generations of MRI testing behind them

I test their patellae at 2 years of age for luxation

Most of my breeding dogs are x-rayed for hip dysplasia

All of my dogs are DNA tested or clear by parentage for dry eye and curly coat syndrome and episodic falling

I am in the process of doing genetic testing for MCADD and MMVD “wild gene”.
