Cooling Coat

My hand-designed and handcrafted cooling coats are made to help keep your dog comfortable in warm weather and hot conditions.

These cooling coats feature an outer layer of material that is glittery or sparkly to help reflect sunlight away from the dog. I often use spandex for this outer layer, though other materials may also be used. The inner layer is made from a special shammy-style fabric that stays cool to the touch for several hours after being wetted, without leaving your dog feeling wet or damp.

The combination of these two layers creates a lightweight coat that helps keep your dog cooler, even on the hottest days. I have also found cooling coats especially helpful for dogs with mitral valve disease, as they may help keep respiration rates lower.  They are also just really helpful for dogs that are more prone to overheating for any reason.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS Cooling coats are made out of an outer layer of material that is typically glittery or has sparkle to help reflect the sun away from the dog. I often use spandex for this outer layer, but not always. The inner layer is a special shammy type of fabric that stays cool to the touch for several hours after you wet it. It does not leave the dog feeling wet or damp.  The combination of the two offers a coat that helps keep your dog cool even on the hottest days. I have also found cooling coats incredibly dogs that have mitral valve disease, or any other reasons why a dog may be prone to overheating. Hand washing only
  1. Hand wash your cooling coat
  2. Fill a sink with cool water and add a teaspoon or less of detergent
  3. Wash thoroughly
  4. Gently squeeze out water
Drying
  1. Air-dry
  2. Avoid hanging in direct sunlight
  3. Hang so that the inner fabric layer is not touching itself in any direction. I usually hang them on a hook. The inner layer of fabric is prone to stick together when it dries and can rip
HOW TO USE

Keeping your dog cool using a cooling coat
  1. Wet the cooling coat completely with cool or cold water
  2. Wring it out as best as possible for extra water and put the coat on your dog
  3. Carefully monitor their temperature and demeanor while wearing the cooling coat. I have had dogs get cold while wearing them. Also as the inner layer dries out (usually several hours), the opposite happens and they can become hot while wearing them. On a hot day I am checking them and the inner layer of the coat often.
